Significant & coordinated 24 hour response to the Felker fire kept fire growth to a minimum

The Felker wildfire 18 kilometres south of Williams Lake remains at 3,946 hectares in size.

Fire Information Officer Madison Dahl says heavy equipment and ground crews continue to focus on improving expanding guards on the northwest corner moving south securing the western flank and moving east there will be containment lines on the northern edge.

“A significant and coordinated 24-hour response has been underway involving over 100 personnel including BC Wildfire Service crews, local contract crews, heavy equipment operators, local and remote Fire Departments, and mediation resources and this has kept fire growth to a minimum.”

Dahl says aviation resources continue to support ground crews as conditions and visibility allows.

There is good news in the South Cariboo when it comes to the Bowers Lake wildfire between Clearwater and 100 Mile House.

Dhal says it remains 150 hectares in size and is now being held.

She says crews and equipment have secured guard around the entire fire perimeter and are working to establish a hose lay along that completed guard.

Helicopters and aviation continue to support as required.
