Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department responds to another fire at Bridges Supportive Housing

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department responded to another structure fire at Bridges Supportive Housing on Elliot Street early on July 21.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says Fire Crews got the call at around 11:50 a.m., and, upon arrival, had heavy smoke coming out of the building’s third floor.

“We had two patients unaccounted for, then we were quickly able to find and account for those patients and got them out,” says Richert. “Crews then went in and suppressed the fire with the help of the building’s sprinkler system.”

Richert said the fire came from a residential suite, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

He also said that three people were taken to the hospital and were being treated for smoke inhalation.

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department has responded to multiple calls to this location.
