Search and Rescue save elderly man in single vehicle accident

An elderly man was rescued by Central Cariboo Search and Rescue earlier today, north of Williams Lake.

Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sergeant Brad McKinnon confirmed that a vehicle went off the road on Highway 97, near Lynes Creek Road.

McKinnon says the vehicle went down an embankment and struck a tree.

He says Central Cariboo Search and Rescue was also on scene and assisted a 79-year-old man out of the vehicle and up the slope.

McKinnon says the man was taken to hospital as a precaution but showed no signs of serious injury at the scene.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
