Early morning fire causes damage to downtown Williams Lake business

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to an early morning structure fire in the City’s downtown area.

Fire Chief Evan Dean said at approximately 2:20 this (Tuesday) morning they responded to the incident at Cycle Logic on Oliver Street .

“On arrival our Duty Officer confirmed there was a fire on the exterior of the property spreading through a window. RCMP members on scene had already used multiple extinguishers and knocked down much of the fire. Firefighters extinguished the remainder, removing burned debris to confirm extinguishment.”

Dean said the cause of the fire is suspicious and under investigation by Williams Lake RCMP.

“There were no injuries reported and damage to the building remained mainly to the exterior with suppression work resulting in the removal of the window,” Dean said.

2 command vehicles, 2 engines and 1 aerial apparatus along with 33 firefighters responded and were on scene for approximately 2 hours.
