Lots of “dough” raised for Dry Grad in the South Cariboo

Something special was being cooked up yesterday (May 4) morning in the South Cariboo.

For the 37th year Pizza Day, a fundraiser for the Peter Skene Ogden Dry Grad, was live on the air on Country 840.

Morning man Chris Adams was joined by PSO grad students and a host of dignitary’s who took pledge’s from 6 to 10 am.

“We didn’t quite meet our goal this year of 300 “pizza” pledges but we still raised about $3100 for the grads from the 206 pledges that were made. We’ll keep accepting pledges as long as people want to keep on bringing them in so we may still reach our goal but we’ll see how things go.”

Some of the local dignitaries who read pledges over the air included District of 100 Mile House Mayor Maureen Pinkney, Councilor Donna Barnett, and Liz Jones from Emergency Support Services, as well as a few grad class students.

“They were game for it,” Adams said about their participation in this fundraising event, “They said they might be sleeping through their classes this (Monday) afternoon but they’ll be ok.”

Adams thanked the community for the support they received and received over the last 3 decades.
