Stage Now Set For Big Changes On Reid Street In Downtown Quesnel

The contract has now been awarded to revitalize the 200,300 and 400 blocks of Reid Street in Downtown Quesnel.

City Council has agreed to hire Eagle Rock Construction out of Kamloops who had a successful bid worth just under 4 million, 789 thousand dollars.

Chris Coben is the Director of Capital Works and Infrastructure…

“This work includes water main and service line replacement, storm drainage improvements, street lighting, furnishings (benches/bike racks/waste receptacles), sidewalk, curb & gutter, and asphalt replacement.”

The project also includes the lane between Reid and McLean Street.

The total budget is for just over 6 million 269 thousand dollars, but that includes almost a million dollars for engineering that is now completed and a 500 thousand dollar contingency fund.

There were three bids in total, all from out-of-town.

Work is expected to start soon and the goal is to complete it around September 20th.

Reid will remain one-way but will go down to one lane from two.
