Fire West of 100 Mile House Now Estimated at 3,200 hectares

The BC Wildfire Service reports as of 3pm on Saturday, July 8 that the fire near the Gustafson North Forest Service is now estimated to be 3,200 hectares in size.

“Smoke being generated by the fire is making it difficult to ascertain its exact size,” said the Service in an information bulletin. “The fire is expected to grow substantially in the next hours and the amount of growth is dependent on weather and wind conditions.”

The 100 Mile House Fire Rescue is on site with 120 firefighters, a 25-person Incident Management Team and support staff, 4 helicopters, airtankers, and 15 pieces of heavy equipment.

RCMP has restricted access to the nearby area for public safety.

The active fire is 0% contained.
