Relay For Life Set To Go In Quesnel

The stage is set for the 16th annual event in Quesnel.

It all starts at 5 o’clock tonight with the opening ceremonies at Baker Creek Park in West Quesnel, behind the skateboard park.

Relay for Life Chair Deb Burton goes over a few of the other details…

“It’s a flashback to the 50’s theme. We’ll all be dressed up in our 50’s costumes, there will be a stage set up with entertainment. Two Cents is the name of the group, the Correlieu Jazz Band will be there.”

Burton says there will also be a community dinner with four restaurants taking part.

That runs from 6 until 9 and you don’t have to be a participant in the event to go to the dinner.

As for the relay itself, Burton says there are nine teams entered this year.

There will be a survivors lap to kick things off and then towards the end of the night there will be luminaries lit.

The final lap will feature participants going around the track with candles.

Around 38 thousand dollars was raised for the fight against cancer in last year’s Relay for Life.
