Police Respond to Incident at Gibraltar Mines

UPDATE: One person was transported to hospital Wednesday morning following a motor vehicle incident at Gibraltar Mines.

Taseko Vice President of Engineering, Scott Jones says a collision occurred between a service truck and an empty haul truck at around 7:45 am.

“The individual in the service truck was conscious but was extricated from the truck by mine rescue personnel. He was transported to hospital in Kamloops and we’re still waiting on an update on his condition and are hoping there are no serious injury there.”

Jones says that Williams Lake RCMP  had also responded to the incident, and that the mine will be conducting their own thorough investigation into the incident.

“We certainly take the safety of our employees very seriously.”

*Jones confirmed Thursday, March 9 that the worker was discharged from hospital with non-critical injuries*

One person was transported to hospital this morning with non-life threatening injuries following a motor vehicle incident at Gibraltar Mines.

Staff Sgt. Del Bryon says police received a report of the incident after 8am that a collision occurred between a 100 ton-haul truck and a pickup truck on a road at the mine site.

Police continue to investigate.
