Rain Puts Major Quesnel Project Behind Schedule

Mother Nature has pushed a major roadwork project in West Quesnel behind schedule.

Mayor Bob Simpson says they had hoped to have the work on Anderson Drive done before school started but he says a wet spring and summer made that impossible.

“and of course the irony is we’re trying to collect all of that surface water and it was running on roads that had been turned to gravel and down ditches that we were trying to put pipes in etc so the project is approximately 1 week to 10 days behind schedule.”

Simpson says they now hope to have it paved before the 2nd week of school as it is a highly congested area with lots of traffic to and from Correlieu Secondary School.

He says the delay will not have an impact on the budget of the project, which is part of phase two of the West Quesnel Land Stability Program.
