New Quesnel Arena Starting To Take Shape

The new West Fraser Centre in Quesnel is starting to take shape.

Work underground is now complete and things are now going up on the new arena.

Jeff Norburn, the General Manager of Community Services, says “you are starting to see a lot of the shear walls, the structural columns, they’ve even started on the suspended slab, sort of the 2nd floor i guess, above the lobby area there.”

Norburn says you can really make out the footprint of the building now.

He says they hope to have the roof structure in place before snowfall when work will then shift to the inside of the building.

The 20.6 million dollar project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2017.
