Wheels In Motion But Still No Guarantee Quesnel Schools Will Open

The Quesnel School District has now formally applied for funding to keep Kersley and Parkland elementary schools from closing.
The deadline was today.
Despite getting a request in however, Board Chair Tony Goulet is still not prepared to say that the two schools will open for sure.
He says “as it stands right now the motion is to close three schools and we haven’t rescinded the motion and we haven’t done any of that yet so we’ll be sitting down here pretty quick once we know exactly what happens with our application.”
Goulet says they want to make sure that they get enough money first of all and that the money will be there after one year so that they’re not back in the same position after the next election.
He says several staffing decisions remain on hold for now as well.
