Kamloops Fire Centre Responds to Aggressive Grass-fire Near Savona

Crews wasted no time attacking a grass-fire near Savona early Saturday afternoon.

Kamloops Fire Centre Information Officer Kelsey Winters says the fire which grew to 3.5 hectares serves as a cautionary reminder as to how dry the conditions are.

“Our indices are high for this time in May and yesterday was a very warm day which we’ve been seeing already more of this time of year. So we did see some pretty aggressive fire behavior and that’s why the changes were called.”

Winters says they responded with three fire fighters, a response officer, and air tankers.

The cause of the grass-fire is under investigation.
