District Council of 100 Mile House Looking into Options for Red Coach Inn

The District Council of 100 Mile House is considering its options with its pending legal action on the Red Coach Inn.

On April 1, a notice was taped to the doors of the Inn stating that Westgate Resorts Ltd., the property owners, did not reach a binding agreement for the sale of the property by its March 14 deadline.

The District is now entitled “at its sole discretion and without further order of the Court or agreement of the Owner” to decide what will happen to the Red Coach Inn. The District can choose to bring the building back up to bylaw and Fire Code compliance, or demolish the building.

In 2022, the Inn, located at 94 Highway 97, received an evacuation order. The Inn’s doors were permanently closed when it was found to be out of compliance with a District Fire Services Bylaw and the British Columbia Fire Code.

Westgate Resorts and the District entered into a Consent Order in December 2024, for the owners to find a buyer, approved by the District, for the property by March 14, 2025. Westgate did not meet the deadline, leading to the notice placed on April 1.

District Council will now look into its best options for the property moving forward, and to ensure the public’s safety.
