Funds have been approved for healthcare improvements in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House.
Chair of the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District (CCRHD) Al Richmond said they are making key investments to improve healthcare facilities and services across the region.
“We have money being spent on heating and ventilating at the 100 Mile District General Hospital,” Richmond said, “another significant plan includes wheelchair accessible bathroom renovations. At Fischer Place we’re looking to replace hot water tanks and items such as that which are ongoing issues that the CCRHD deals with on a regular basis.”
In Williams Lake over $2.7 million is being invested to develop and improve primary care and community health program facilities, expanding access to essential services.
“In addition to the primary care funding we have some water heating and ventilation system replacements at Deni House. Regional wide we have a comprehensive IT upgrade project which will make communication for healthcare records within Interior Health more cohesive.”
Additional upgrades the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District has planned includes new physiological monitoring systems and a steam sterilizer at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in the Lake City.
CCRHD said these upgrades will enhance patient care, accessibility and the efficiency of medical infrastructure.
In addition to these projects Richmond is pleased that have been approved funding for, he is also excited about the recent opening of the Urgent and Primary Care Centre.
“It was a real milestone for the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District. This is one cornerstone of taking some of the load off the ER at Cariboo Memorial Hospital and making our region more attractive for healthcare professionals to locate to. We are also pleased with the opening of the Maternity Clinic at GR Baker Hospital in Quesnel. We continue to fund with Interior and Northern Health capital projects to make the Hospitals just a little bit better and more modern for our residents.”
