Williams Lake Council Awards Community Grants Program Funding to 24 Groups

Williams Lake has approved a number of grants and aid for groups in the community.
A total of $31,850 went to 24 different groups that range from sports organizations, societies, and other non-profits.
“These non-profit organizations work hard year ’round,” Councillor Scott Nelson said on the importance of the grants. “They are a dedicated group of [often] volunteers that just give and give.”
The largest grants handed out were $5,000 to the Downtown Williams Lake Business Improvement Association and $2,350 to the Williams Lake Cycling Club.

Here is a list of all the organizations awarded:

Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddle Society – $2,000

Cariboo Chilcotin Orienteering Club – $800

Cariboo Classic Society – $250

Chilcotin Rural Women in Business – $250

Downtown Williams Lake Business Improvement Association – $5,000

Lake Auto Racing Club DBA Thunder Mountain Speedway – $2,000

Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin Society – $2,000

Social Planning Council of Williams Lake and Area – $2,000

Trail Running Association of the Cariboo – $500

Tŝilhqot’in National Government – $2,000

Williams Lake & District 4H Society – $1,000

Williams Lake Apple Pie Society – $400

Williams Lake Curling Club – $2,000

Williams Lake Cycling Club – $2,350

Williams Lake Off-Road Motorcycle Association – $1,000

Williams Lake Roller Derby Association & Caribruisers Jr Roller Derby – $2,000

Williams Lake Royal Purple – $800

Williams Lake Stampeders Senior Mens Hockey Club – $2,000

Williams Lake Studio Theatre Society – $1,000

Williams Lake Trail Riders Association – $2,000

Dan LeClerc Memorial Hockey Tournament Organizing Committee – $250

Guru Nanak Sikh Temple Society – $2,000

Dion Hall WLSS Capstone Project / Foundry – $250
