Two South Cariboo Organizations have become the latest Health Stars with their generous donations to the South Cariboo Health Foundation.
Public Relations and Fundraising Coordinator Danielle Sabiston said the Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 260 gave a combined contribution of 11-thousand dollars.
Sabiston said it’s a huge start to the Health Foundation’s Annual fundraiser to purchase two pieces of equipment for the 100 Mile House District General Hospital.
This year the South Cariboo Health Foundation is focused on getting that equipment for the Emergency Department Trauma Bay.
“The Hospital wanted to get back to patient centred care. So they picked two items that they feel will be essential in the Trauma Room and they can increase the bedside monitoring of patients and really help focus on caring for those patients.”
The South Cariboo Health Foundation is hoping to raise $90,000 to buy both a Video Conferencing System that will allow staff to consult with specialized professionals from other Hospitals when performing procedures.
The other piece of equipment is an Omni Cell Automatic Medication Dispensing System that will be in the Trauma Bay.
And although the Starry Nights Campaign began at the end of October, Sabiston is overwhelmed by the donations they’ve received so far.
“I’m thrilled by the number of generous people there are in 100 Mile House and surrounding area. The donations just keep getting dropped off. Our Hospital services people from a wide area. We see people from Clinton, 70 Mile, all the way up to Lac La Hache, 150 Mile, and out along Highway 24.”
