100 Mile To Upgrade Water Supply through Federal Gas Tax Funds

The largest grant the District of 100 Mile House has ever received was announced late last week.

The District received $5.8 million dollars through the Federal Gas Tax Fund to upgrade their water supply.

Mayor Mitch Campsall says the biggest issue is the purification of manganese.

“I don’t how to explain it but, it’s almost like a weed that grows inside the water and it’s just horrible for equipment. Our restaurants have had a heck of lot problems for the last few years, and it’s probably been seven years that we’ve been working on it.”

Campsall says the upgrade will also allow them to expand up into Exeter Road and give them a larger water supply.

He says they will be drilling wells this year with piping and towers being worked on in 2017.

The project will take two to two and a half years to complete.
