Alex Fraser Park Gets Checkup

Just under one and a half million dollars is needed to maintain the infrastructure at Alex Fraser Park in Quesnel over the next five years.

That was the conclusion of a facility condition assessment that was presented to the North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee this week.

Jeff Norburn, the Director of Community Services, says this is something they do with all of their buildings and properties…

“We’re entering those assets…all of the structures, all of the equipment, all of the assets on the sites…into our software program, we have a building maintenance software program that we use for all of our preventative maintenance programs and regular maintenance.”

Norburn says it just looks at all the existing facilities and assets that are in the park…

“It doesn’t really take into consideration any new amenities that you would want to add to the park and it doesn’t consider how high a priority or how well used a particular facility is and whether or not it’s a very high priority so that’s still a process that we have to go through but what the report does do is identify a number of items that requires some attention.”

He says this information, along with the assessments of other facilities, will be included when the politicians make their decisions on the 2018 budget.
