The Cariboo-Chilcotin and Quesnel School Districts have released statements following the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge.

The Cariboo-Chilcotin School District's Board of Education passed one of its controversial changes to public's access and ability to participate in future board meetings during Monday, January 26's board meeting.

Williams Lake City Councillor Sheila Boehm encouraged the public to stand up for their voices to be heard and to keep meetings public when supporting a letter by the Concerned Parents of Williams Lake to City Council with concerns about the Cariboo Chilcotin School District's Board of Trustees proposed changes to prevent the public from attending its Board meetings.

The Ministry of Education and Childcare announced 640 new childcare spaces on school grounds will be up and running come the start of this new school year in September. Williams Lake's Chilcotin Road Elementary School was allocated funds for 20 new spaces. In addition to the new spaces, the Ministry announced changes to its childcare affordability programs to make them more accessible and cheaper on parents.
