UPDATE: Snaking River Fire Breaks 1,000 Hectares: Nazko First Nation Issues Evac Alert

The Snaking River Wildfire is reported to be over 1,000 hectares in size. The BC Wildfire Service says day time heat and solar radiation have continued to dry the area, producing more fuel for the fire. The fire, located 65 kms west of Quesnel is producing smoke that is visible from Quesnel, Highway 97, and surrounding communities.

Emergency responders burning out, Ambulance Paramedics Association of BC president says

The Ambulance Paramedics Association of BC (APBC) says the mental health crisis continues it’s having a lasting impact on the service’s members.  According to the union, approximately 30 per cent of their members (including paramedics and dispatchers) are either off work battling mental health or are still continuing to work while receiving treatment.  

Lhtako Dene Nation and District of Wells Sign 150 Year Charter

Chief Clifford LeBrun of Lhtako Dene, and Mayor of the District of Wells, Ed Coleman, signed a new charter that guarantees the two governments will work together for the next 'Seven Generations of Decision Making' on major infrastructure projects that will help grow and sustain the communities.

A Grand Entry to a Historic Lhtako Dene Pow Wow

The Lhatko Dene Nation opened its first day of Pow Wow with a Grand Entry at 7 pm on Friday, August 1. There were over 200 warriors and dancers who made the trip to Lhtako Dene from all over Western Canada and from the United States. Lhtako Dene's Pow Wow runs until August 3.
