The Lhatko Dene Nation opened its first day of Pow Wow with a Grand Entry at 7 pm on Friday, August 1. There were over 200 warriors and dancers who made the trip to Lhtako Dene from all over Western Canada and from the United States. Lhtako Dene's Pow Wow runs until August 3.

UPDATE: Snaking River Fire reaches 624 hectares

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the blaze, 65 km west of Quesnel is 150 hectares in size. The fire is producing smoke that is visible from Quesnel, Highway 97 and surrounding communities.

Bruce the Moose’s Antler No Longer on the Loose

One of the antlers of the moose carving at the Prestige Riverside Lodge in Quesnel, lovingly known in the community as Bruce the Moose, had been stolen over the Billy Barker Days weekend. The antler was found in a homeless encampment.
