B.C. ranked third in latest donations survey

B.C finished near the top in charitable donations in 2014.

The province ranked third with over 694,000 people putting it on their federal income tax.

$1.3 billion dollars worth of donations was tallied province-wide.

Stats Canada Analyst, Francois Page says one region in the lower mainland trumped the median area average of $280.

“The one that stands out is Mission-Abbotsford because it is the highest median donation area in all the country with an average contribution of $720.”

Only Alberta and Ontario ranked higher than B.C. for donation totals during the same year.

Just under $8.8 billion dollars supported charities across the Canada in 2014.
