Taseko Mines Limited announced today (June 19) that they have ratified the tentative agreement with Unifor Local 3018.
The contract increases wages 13% over three years and will be in place until may 31, 2027.
Unifor Local 3018 said in a release that the agreement introduces a Women’s Advocate in the workplace to champion equity and recognizes the federal labour code’s leave for Indigenous practices.
They were also successful at adding clarity and fairness to the drug testing incident procedure as well as additional transparency during the discipline process.
Taseko Mines Limited stated in a release that Gibraltar Mine workers have been recalled and mining operations and milling in concentrator #2 are restarting today.
The company said concentrator #1 will remain idle while the crusher relocation project and other scheduled maintenance is being completed.
Taseko owns and operates the Gibralter copper-molybdenum mine north of Williams Lake.
It is the second largest open pit copper mine in Canada and the largest employer in the Cariboo region.
Unifor Local 3018 represents 550 workers at the mine who had been on strike since June First.
