100 Mile House RCMP found a woman hiding in a trunk after a vehicle search.
Back on May 10th, police received an abandoned 9-1-1 call from a male who sounded like he was in distress, with a second voice heard in the call.
After a cellphone location ping was conducted, members arrived to an area near 103 Mile road, where the male was found in the vehicle with signs of alcohol impairment.
Sergeant Brian Lamb says after the male was detained, there was no sign of the second person.
“The male was questioned about the second voice heard on the 9-1-1 call, and he advised that a female was in the trunk of the vehicle.” says Lamb.
“Members subsequently searched and located the female inside the trunk, where she was allegedly hiding, as the male was on no contact conditions with her.”
Lamb says that it was probably planned for her to hide, and wasn’t an issue of her being forced in the trunk.
The male was arrested for breach of an undertaking, but refused to provide a sample of his breath, and has been issued an immediate 90-day roadside prohibition with the vehicle being impounded for 30 days.
Lamb says the male was remanded in custody.
