Typically dry month wetter than normal in the Cariboo

The Cariboo region saw normal temperatures through February, however the month saw more precipitation.

Quesnel was closer to average, receiving 25.8 millimetres of precipitation with the normal being 22.7, and Williams Lake saw 22.3 with the usual at 18.6.

Meteorologist Ken Dosanjh says February is considered the driest month of the year.

“That also leads into March as well where averages are fairly low, kind of in the high teens to low twenties for our total normal precipitation.” says Dosanjh

“Like I said, February is typically the driest of the year, and then March and April are close seconds.”

Dosanjh says Williams Lake’s temperature averaged at -3.3 degrees, with the normal being -4.1, with Quesnel almost having the opposite seeing -4.5, and the normal being -3.6.

Heading into March, he says it’ll be fairly dry with the only precipitation over the weekend and early next week, but fairly minimal at best.

Dosanjh says as we progress through the month, we should see north winds which means cold air, with a return to normal temperatures at around Thursday.
