Live programming will return to Barkerville on June 1st

Barkerville Historic Town & Park has announce the dates for the 2024 main season.
Stewart Cawood, the Manager of Public Programming, says the season will run from June 1st until September 8th this year and he says the Theatre Royal will be able to open on opening day as well.
“We’re also excited, thanks to Osisko Development, we’re able to open the theatre on that day as well, so the theatre will be running right through the full main season this year.”
Cawood says several other specific dates have also been set.
“We’ll have our Dominion Day celebration on July 1st, which we pretty much do every year.  There will be games for all ages and evening festivities at House Hotel.  We’re also bringing back our Indigenous Peoples’ celebration and that will be on August 17th, and then the following Saturday we’re going to have our Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.”
Cawood says Barkerville’s Olde-Fashioned Christmas will also be back on the weekend of December 14th and 15th.
He says they are getting all of these dates out early this year in an effort to boost attendance at the historic town.
“We’re able to get some planning in place ahead of time this year, so we’re hoping that will bode well for more people coming out and seeing our attendance continue to rise through to those pre-pandemic numbers.”
Annual passes for Barkerville are already on sale with a discount of 10% until February 29th.
