At approximately 6:45 the 150 Mile Volunteer Fire Department responded with mutual aid from the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department and Williams Lake Fire Department.
Upon arrival it was observed that an outbuilding which was attached to the main residence was fully involved and had spread and breached into the main building.
Incident Commander J J Bast says despite the crews best efforts, the cold weather hampered their ability to suppress the fire, creating challenges with hoses, pumps, and water available to action the fire and unfortunately there was a complete structure loss.
Bast says the occupants of the residence escaped unharmed and uninjured and have been connected with Emergency Support Services.
At this time the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation, however Bast says no arson is suspected.
5 apparatus and 2 command vehicles were on scene along with 7 firefighters from 150 Mile VFD, 9 FROM Williams Lake Fire Department, and 8 from Miocene VFD.
“We want to send a world of thanks to WLFD and Miocene VFD for their help and endurance in the cold.” Bast said, “We also send out a huge thanks to Scott Peterson and Mitch Jorgensen for their hard work to keep equipment running in the cold.”
