What MLA Hopes Is Under The Tree This Christmas

Politicians, like everyone else, have their wish list for Santa during the holidays and the MLA for Cariboo North is no different.
We asked Coralee Oakes what she would like for Quesnel and there was absolutely no hesitation.
Number one on her wishlist is a truck route.
Oakes says we need a really solid transportation corridor that’s going to link Quesnel to where the new economic opportunities are as well as to make the community safer.
She says it keeps her up at night knowing the seniors and the hospital are along Highway 97.
Oakes says the completion of the new seniors facility that the Lions Club is working on would also be high on her list.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.

CRD Awards Multiple Community Organizations Funding for Events and Projects

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) awarded just over $4,000 to local non-profits in last week's [July 11] board meeting. The funding came from the CRD's Grants for Assistance, which gives funding to local non-profits that are delivering benefits to their communities
