Former Quesnel Hockey Player taking over as head coach in Alberta

Quesnel product Ryan Marsh will be taking over as head coach for the Spruce Grove Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Marsh grew up playing minor hockey in Quesnel, and played junior hockey in 1992 with the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League, with his playing career ending in 2002.

This will be Marsh’s 20th year coaching, and first year as head coach for the Saints, as he was previously an assistant from 2007-10 and 2011-12 season.

Saints General Manager, Rob Sklaruk said in a release “It is a wonderful feeling to bring a former Saint home, Ryan is an experienced and well-rounded coach. We are extremely happy to welcome him back to Grant Fuhr Arena.”

Marsh will begin the regular season as Head Coach on September 15th, in hopes to help the team win their fifth consecutive North Division Championship.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the blaze, 65 km west of Quesnel is 150 hectares in size. The fire is producing smoke that is visible from Quesnel, Highway 97 and surrounding communities.

A wildfire believed to have been caused by a lightning strike has been spotted in the Quesnel Highland near Jack of Clubs Lake in the District of Wells. The fire is 1.5 hectares in size.

Logging Truck Catches Fire on Garner Road West of Quesnel

A logging truck caught fire while traveling down Garner Road, west of Quesnel during the afternoon of July 31. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and the driver is uninjured. The Incident Commander of the West Fraser Volunteer Fire Department says, the situation could have been a lot worse.
