Welcome Wagon will no longer be offering personal visits in Williams Lake.
Area Manager for the Southern and Northern Interior of BC, OJ Taylor says they are finding new families are requesting that greetings be sent through the mail.
“What we are approached with and what we’re coming across is a lot the newcomers are coming into the community and they have two jobs and their kids have basketball, skating, and they just no longer have time to sit down with us.”
Once requested online, newcomers are greeted by Welcome Wagon through the mail with coupons from the local business community.
Taylor says although Welcome Wagon in Quesnel and Vernon still offer face to face visits, their visits are also dropping.
The new program rolls out into Williams Lake on Dec. 15.
