High Winds Forecasted Throughout The Cariboo Fire Centre

This Spring has seen unseasonably windy, dry and hot conditions that have resulted in 58 fires with a total of 1,797 hectares burned within the Cariboo region, the majority being human caused.

Fire Information Officer at the Cariboo Fire Centre, Madison Dahl said high winds are forecasted across our region especially over the weekend.

“We could get wind gusts up to 45 kilometres. We’re just urging Industry partners and members of the public to remain vigilant, go out and check any of the burn piles or stacks that you may have had that you thought were previously extinguished just to ensure they are in fact extinguished.”

The Cariboo Fire Centre said human caused wildfires are completely preventable and divert firefighting resources away from naturally occurring wildfires in the region.
