Volunteers will be providing true holiday meals in Williams Lake this evening to families and individuals who might not be able to share the experience.
Administrative Assistant for the Cariboo-Chilcotin Child Development Centre, Cindy Heimlich says they usually have a steady increase in numbers for their Annual Yuletide Dinner.
“On years that the weather is not so good, our numbers may go down but we serve generally anywhere from I would say 500 people to 600 plus a year.”
Heimlich says the giving spirit of the community’s volunteers is what has made the event continue for 18 years.
“In all honesty, it is the generosity of our volunteers in the community. Without them, this would not be a function that we could continue every year. We have numerous volunteers, and many, many donations from the community.”
The free Yuletide Dinner takes place at the Sacred Heart Hall starting at 4 pm.
The cost of sponsoring an individual plate is $11, with the cost of a family of four at $44.
