Winter Lights Festival taking place in Williams Lake tonight

Williams Lake residents can look forward to tonight, as the winter lights festival will be happening.

The event will have plenty of activities for people to enjoy across different local businesses in downtown Williams Lake, along with a winter lights parade on Oliver Street.

“Planning started in June. I met with people who had put the event on before.” says Sherry Yonkman, Executive Director of Downtown Williams Lake.

“Organizing started in September, and so it’s been a few months of contacting businesses and inviting people to participate, and finding volunteers.”

The activities portion of the festival will be taking place from 1:00pm-4:00pm, with a map of all the stores on Downtown Williams Lake’s Facebook page.

The weather will be a bit chilly once the parade comes around, which Yonkman added that she hope people will dress warmly, and enjoy the events.

She also hinted at a special guess at the end of the parade that she hopes the kids will enjoy.

The parade will start at 5:00pm, and will start from Borland Street and 7th Ave, it will then continue down 7th on to Oliver Street, and end at Spirit Square. Christmas Carols, and the light up of the big Christmas tree will will also be at Spirit Square.

For more information on the event and the activities, you can visit Downtown Williams Lake’s website here.
