B-C Health Minister Adrian Dix says it’s time for the federal government to step up to the plate.
Dix and his 12 fellow provincial and territorial health ministers are meeting with their federal counterparts in Vancouver today (Monday) and tomorrow.
They’ll be renewing their call for more federal healthcare funding from Jean-Yves Duclos (doo-CLOH).
They want to see the federal share of health care expenses increase from 22 percent to 35 percent.
But the federal government has argued that its contribution is much higher than the provinces claim.
Dix says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been unwilling to engage in discussions on the issue.
The shortage of family doctors, and mental health support for medical staff hard hit by the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, will also be under discussion.
