152 new COVID-19 cases reported in the Cariboo last week

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is reporting 152 new cases for the Cariboo’s local health regions last week.

97 of the new cases between October 17th and 23rd were in the Quesnel local health area, 52 were in the Cariboo Chilcotin area, and 3 were in the 100 Mile House area.

The week before (October 10th to 16th), there were 150 new COVID-19 cases across the three Cariboo local health areas. 73 of those were in the Quesnel area, 57 were in the Cariboo Chilcotin area, and 20 were in the 100 Mile area.

The latest data from the BCCDC shows 77% of eligible people (12 and older) in the Quesnel area have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, a one percent increase from last week. 76% in the 100 Mile House and Cariboo/Chilcotin areas have received one dose, which is the same percentage as last week.

For second doses, 71% of eligible people in the 100 Mile House area, 69% in the Quesnel area, and 68% in the Cariboo/Chilcotin have received their second shot, a one percent increase across all three areas.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.

CRD Awards Multiple Community Organizations Funding for Events and Projects
