Supreme Court to decide if it will hear BC Teachers appeal Thursday

The Supreme Court of Canada will announce Thursday if it will hear an appeal on the BC Teachers Federation legal saga.

The Teachers Fed and BC Government have exchanged court victories on the class size and composition case

The BC Court of Appeal overturned a 2014 ruling by Justice Susan Griffin that said Teachers constitutional rights were violated when class size limits were stripped out of the teachers contract in 2002 by provincial legislation.

If the application to the Supreme Court is granted, the BCTF will have 30 days to file an appeal with the court.

If the BC Teachers Federation is successful with their case at the Supreme Court, it will mean hundreds of teachers will need to be hired and millions of dollars added to the education budget.

The announcement will be made 6:45am PST
