Quesnel City Councillor is new President of Union of BC Municpalities

It’s now official.

Quesnel City Councillor Laurey-Anne Roodenburg is the new President of the Union of BC Municipalities.

She was acclaimed to that position.

“Our new UBCM executive is ready to move forward on the numerous concerns discussed at this year’s convention, ranging from local government financial challenges, to dealing with the potential impacts of another devastating heatwave in the future.  The discussions at our virtual convention gave us the direction we need to address the many local governance and other issues facing BC’s municipalities today.”

Roodenburg served this past year as the first Vice President.

Her first duty as President was to close this year’s convention.

Councillor Jen Ford of the Resort Municipality of Whistler was acclaimed as First Vice President, Mayor Ange Qualizza of the City of Fernie was elected as Second Vice President, and Councillor Claire Moglove of the City of Campbell River was acclaimed as Third Vice President.
