Weekly COVID-19 cases down slightly in the Cariboo

There were 62 new cases in the Cariboo’s local health regions last week (August 15th to 21st) according to the BC Centre for Disease Control.

This was a slight decrease from the week before when 73 new cases were reported.

44 of last week’s new cases were in the Cariboo/Chilcotin local health region, where 51 new cases were reported the week before.

There were 12 new cases in the Quesnel local health region, and six in the 100 Mile House local health region. There were 14 in Quesnel and seven in 100 Mile House the week before.

The BC Centre for Disease Control’s latest data shows one percent more eligible people (12 and older) people in the Quesnel local health region had their first dose of a vaccine. 68 percent of people there have now had one shot. There was no change in the Cariboo/Chilcotin and 100 Mile House regions for the first dose percentage from last week.

The BC Centre for Disease Control’s latest data is also showing more people are getting their second dose in the Cariboo. 58 percent of eligible people in the Cariboo/Chilcotin and Quesnel local health regions have received their second dose. Both regions were at 57 percent a week ago. In addition, 63 percent of eligible people have had their second dose in the 100 Mile House region, up from 62 percent last week.
