Tourism Numbers Stabilizing For South Cariboo

It seems like the spike in tourism for the South Cariboo has run its course as the September numbers are more in line with previous years.

Information Counselor with the Visitor Info Centre Val Streber says that a lower Canadian dollar has grown the number of domestic tourists so far this year

“I know they were saying that we’re up 15-18 percent – mostly because we have more Canadian and American tourists than we’d normally have. Americans are coming because their dollar is stronger, and Canadians are most likely travelling within country because their dollar is weaker.”

September’s numbers saw a positive difference of about three hundred visitors – a considerable slowdown from the spring where the number of visitors was up from fifty up to two hundred percent
