Excitement continues to build for the Provincial Mountain Bike Tourism Symposium which will be taking place in Williams Lake next month.
Martin Littlejohn, Executive Director of the Western Canada Mountain Bike Tourism Association says hundreds of mountain bikers and industry professionals from across BC will taking part in the event.
“We expect roughly about 200 hundred people to attend the Symposium and they’re here for 3 days-I guess official days for the symposium but there are also other activities planned for both pre and post as well,” he said.
“We’re trying to get people to stay here as long as possible so the longer they stay the greater the economic impact will be on our community.”
Littlejohn estimates over $75,000 will economically result from the Provincial Mountain Bike Tourism Symposium.
He says volunteers are still needed for the October 2nd-October 5th event and to contact Beth Holden at 250-305-5014.
The City of Williams Lake was 1Â of 11Â communities selected to hold the Symposium which was last held in Sooke on Vancouver Island.
