BC Conservative blasts Liberal investment on Highway of Tears

The leader of BC’s Conservative Party is calling out the provincial Liberals commitment toward the Highway of Tears.

Dan Brooks says spending 3 million dollars on the road isn’t enough.

“It’s pathetic, we are talking about 800 kilometres of road and several communities so I do not think there is any way the minimal amount will service them in any nature.”

He says the Conservatives solution is simple.

“What I think we should do for the Highway of Tears is make a massive investment toward infrastructure and public transit along the highway and then piggy-back it to improve safety and tourism opportunities in the region.”

Just the name of the highway reflects poorly on Northern BC.

The BC Liberals announcement comes on the same day the party announced a 50 million dollar investment to the Michael Smith Foundation in Vancouver for health research.
