Williams Lake RCMP investigate vehicle fire

RCMP in Williams Lake are continuing to investigate an incident in which a stolen vehicle was set ablaze on Sunday.

Staff Sgt. Del Byron says RCMP responded to a request to assist the Williams Lake Fire Department with a burning vehicle on the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue North at 7:57 pm.

When police arrived a Jeep Cherokee was fully engulfed in flames.

Two first nations males both of whom appeared to be in their mid-20s and clean-cut fled the scene, with one of the male suspects wearing a red sweatshirt reportedly lighting the vehicle on fire.

Police say the other male was wearing a long-sleeved black sweatshirt and that the vehicle was reported to have been stolen earlier that day.

Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to contact RCMP or Crimestoppers.
