Although it is still is unknown who will be representing the NDP Cariboo -Prince George riding this upcoming federal election, one nominee candidate is planning on taking her message for change to the highway next month.
Lake City resident Laura Zimmerman says she will be doing a walkathon on Highway 97.
“Starting on August 7, at Williams Lake walking to Vanderhoof I would invite public at large who do have concerns come out and anyone who feels that 51 (Bill C-51) is a threat to them should definitely come out and see me or contact the NDP because we do plan to remove and abolish 51.”
Zimmerman says the NDP is also looking at addressing the Senate, the economy, and revitalizing the middle class.
She says she had a specific reason for choosing Highway 97 for the walkathon.
“That’s the Highway where our missing Aboriginals and First Nations have orientated from and people aren’t grasping that,” she said.
“Mr. Harper has failed to address this inquiry. He’s basically said you know the RCMP has dealt with it-no one has dealt with it.”
Zimmerman who’s up against Prince George businessman Trent Derrick and former Councillor Debora Munoz, says the constituency will be meeting on August 29th.
