New RCMP Inspector ready to focus on prolific offenders

He may haveĀ been only on the job for one week now at the Williams Lake RCMP Detachment, but says he’s ready to continue with programs that focus on prolific offenders.

Inspector Milo MacDonald says he’s fully aware of somethings that have happened in the last while that have been of concern to residents.

He says he believes that this will be the right approach.

“One of the things that I do know, and I think it’s true for a lot of communities, it that it doesn’t take many people to create a crime wave.”

“I think what we’re going to do is we’re going to continue with a number of the programs that are already in place that focus on the very specific small groups of people that are responsible for the bulk of the problems in this community and I think that’s the approach we’re going to take.”

MacDonald goes on to say that he has already noticed that there are a few number of groups that are really involved with trying to be part of a solution when it comes to crime within the Lake City.

“Of course no solution to a broad problem can come exclusively from one agency. It relies on having the support of the public and the support of all of the different groups that sort of comprise the social safety net within the town-we’re (RCMP) just one part of that.”

“There is a broad community support out to be able to address this and move forward-I’ve really felt this since I’ve gotten here.”

MacDonald, had been stationed in the Lake City between 1996 and 2000 and had been running the organized crime unit in Prince George and previously before that had headed the RCMP detachment in Dawson Creek.

He replaces Inspector Warren Brown.
