Counting Down…Final Fate of Slumber Lodge to be known in 14 days

The Slumber Lodge in Williams Lake could be coming down soon after Council voted unanimously for the order of demolition Tuesday evening.

The owner who has 14 days from now to appeal the decision, had submitted a building permit application which senior bylaw Brendan Foote revealed the City has recently received.

Councillor Scott Nelson called it a game of cat and mouse.

“We have been back and forth with this organization many, many times.”

“It’s a hazard to the community and we’re taking a very tough position on it. We’re not going to tolerate any longer any delays.”

“I think tonight was a clear example that Council is going to clean up and this pig pen is going to come down.”

The Slumber Lodge which is located at 27 Seventh Avenue South in Williams Lake has been boarded up since June 2012.
