23 Year Old Man Charged in Connection to Violent Assault

Williams Lake RCMP says they received several tips related to a violent assault near the Husky Gas station that left a 70-year-old man lying on the street, bleeding profusely from his face Wednesday night.

In a press release, police say these tips were followed up by members of the Williams Lake Detachment resulting in the arrest of a 23-year-old male who resides in the Williams Lake area.

The accused in this matter was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear and an Undertaking with conditions for Court on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The 70-year-old male victim will be transferred from Cariboo Memorial Hospital to Kamloops Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The victim suffered serious facial and head injuries as a result of this random and senseless violent act.

The RCMP would like to thank members of the Community of Williams Lake for stepping forward and helping the Police solve this crime.

The local Williams Lake Detachment is very appreciative of the assistance that was offered by all who came forward.

“For the police to be successful in this community we cannot act alone,” says Staff Sgt. Del Byron.
