Runaway Vehicle Leaves Williams Lake Man in Critical Condition

A runaway vehicle that came to a stop at McDonald’s in Williams Lake has left a 61-year-old man in critical condition.

From witness information obtained, RCMP say they learned that the man had parked his Silver 2007 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab Pickup Truck in his driveway on Lakeview Crescent near the intersection of Broadway Ave South.

The driver thought he had put the truck in gear, but as he exited the driver’s seat, it started to roll back out of the driveway.

The man attempted to jump back in the driver’s seat, but he fell to the ground and was pulled under the truck and run over by the unmanned vehicle.

The truck continued down Lakeview Crescent striking a parked unoccupied Grey Honda Civic and continued on until it went over the retaining wall in the McDonald’s parking lot where it came to rest on the roof of an occupied red Ford 500 at 12:50 pm.

The couple inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
