Brews from across B.C. on Tap at Williams Lake Craft Beer Festival

Getting through the winter by socializing while sharing good beer and good times together is the focus of the Williams Lake Craft Beer Festival that will support the Child Development Centre.

“We’ve always tried to find a charity,” said committee member, Cordell Weibe.

“For the first couple of years we were working with the hospital and then the last few years we’ve been working with the Child Development Centre. We’ve been able to raise around $30,000 a year for them and this year once again we are trying to raise funds for them.”

Tickets for the 5th annual Beer Festival that takes place today (Saturday, Feb. 23) at the Williams Lake TRU gymnasium sold out in 33 minutes.

“There might a few that will be released from people who can’t make it, but really you’re going to have to look on facebook to try to find them or know a friend who’s got some tickets because they sold out really fast,” Weibe said.

“We were actually trying to think about making it two scenes but we just ran out of time. The demand for these tickets has always been great.”

Approximately 350 tickets were sold for the Williams Lake Craft Beer Festival that will feature 23 craft breweries and cideries from across the province.

“They want to come and they keep coming back,” Weibe said of the breweries.

“We’ve grown from having 13 breweries in our first year up to 23 now and we’re maxed out.”
