Children Deliver Carnations and Chocolates to Williams Lake Seniors Village

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, clients at the Williams Lake Seniors Village where treated to a special surprise.

The Williams Lake and Girls Club with the help of Lo’s Florist handed out carnations and chocolates to seniors at the centre Tuesday.

“Normally what happens is we talk to the children in our after-school program about some good deeds that they would like to do,” said executive director Deana Conde Garza.

“They’re from 6 to 12 years of age and we give them a list of a bunch of things that they could do as a good deed, and this is one of the ones they chose.”

Going from room to room on the two floors in the assisted living side, the 9 children who were joined by two adults and a health care aid delivered 113 carnations.

“This was one that they thought would be really special, and it was,” Conde Garza said.

“There were a couple of seniors that made us all cry. They actually don’t usually have any visitors at all so it was really nice to see.”
